Latest version.
  • A. Whenever a public sewer system is installed and accepted by the city for operation, each owner of a parcel upon which a house, building, or property is used for human occupancy, employment, recreation, or other purposes situated within the city, or any property boundary which is within 200 feet of the sewer system, shall install a sewer line to connect the house, building or property with the public sewer within 12 months from the date of completion of the public sewer; provided, that this time period may be extended for a maximum of six additional months at the discretion of the wastewater board due to adverse weather conditions. This requirement shall not be affected by the availability of any on-site sewage disposal system. When a property owner is required to use a public sewer, any prior existing on-site sewer system must be removed or abandoned, and rendered harmless at the owner's expense.

    B. The term "rendered harmless" means to:

    1. Remove or fill any tank with soil, sand or gravel;

    2. Seal cover permanently; flush drain field for remove;

    3. Remove any outfall;

    4. Disconnect power, if applicable.
