§ 16.18.010. Amendments

  • A. Amendment of provisions of the ordinance from which this title is derived or the boundaries of the watershed areas may be initiated by the city council, or the planning and zoning commission.

    B. Any person may request an amendment to the ordinance from which this title is derived if supported by a petition of at least 40 percent of the registered voters in the City of Angoon.

    C. A request to initiate an amendment to the ordinance from which this title is derived shall be submitted to the mayor, who shall forward immediately the request to the planning and zoning commission.

    D. A public hearing on the proposed amendment shall be held by the planning and zoning commission, and shall explicitly consider the consistency of the proposed amendment with the adopted comprehensive plan of the city including the Angoon Coastal Zone Management Plan. After a public hearing, the planning and zoning commission shall send its recommendation to the city council, together with certified copies of minutes and public records relating to the proposed ordinance.

    E. The city council shall consider and act upon the proposed ordinance at its earliest convenient time.
